Orem golfers have a longer drive than they used to. The city lost a course a decade ago, and what is left fills up fast in summer and shuts entirely in winter. Fifteen minutes south on I-15 there is a private TrackMan bay that is open at every hour of every day of the year, with a PGA-certified instructor in the building.

No membership, no contract, no tee sheet. You book an hour, you turn up, you hit balls. If the weather is filthy or it is eleven at night, that changes nothing.
Orem Used to Have Two Courses
Cascade Fairways opened in 1968 on the east side of Orem and ran for forty-five years. In 2013 it was sold to a developer, the clubhouse came down, the driving range netting poles came out, and the land became housing with a slice given back to the city for soccer fields. Plenty of Orem golfers learned the game there.
What remains inside the city is The Links at Sleepy Ridge — a genuinely good public course, 18 holes and par 72 over seven thousand yards, opened in 2005. One course for a city of roughly a hundred thousand people. It is busy for a reason.
One municipal course closed, one public course left, and four months a year when neither of them is open anyway.
That last part is the one people forget. Sleepy Ridge closes for winter like everything else in the valley, and Hobble Creek down in Springville, which the city owns, shuts at Thanksgiving every year regardless of what the weather is doing. From late November to March, Orem has no outdoor golf at all.
Why Orem Golfers Drive Past Closer Options
There are simulator setups between Orem and Springville, and for a quick hour some of them are nearer to you. We would rather be straight about that. The reasons people keep going the extra few exits tend to be specific:
- Bay size. Two full-size private bays, the largest in Utah Valley. Enough room to put a driver through a proper swing rather than a careful one.
- TrackMan, not cameras. Radar measurement rather than estimation — the same system used for club fitting and on tour. If you are changing something in your swing, that difference matters.
- Two PGA-certified instructors on site. Steve and Dane teach in the same bays you practice in, on the same numbers. Adult lessons are 90 minutes at $100, junior lessons 60 minutes at $70.
- No membership. An hour is $35 and you never have to come back. Punch passes bring that to $30, $25 or $21.25 an hour depending on how many you buy.
- Per bay, not per person. Bring three people and the rate splits four ways.
Who Comes Down From Orem
UVU students and staff keeping a swing alive through the school year. Golfers who play Sleepy Ridge, Fox Hollow, Timpanogos or Hobble Creek in season and need somewhere to work in the off months. Families and groups after an evening that is not the movies. And a steady number of people who book a lesson first and then buy hours to go and practice what came out of it.
One thing to know before you set off: we do not rent clubs. Bring your own set. Juniors can manage perfectly well on borrowed clubs for a first session.
Getting Here From Orem
I-15 southbound, past Provo, off at the Springville 1400 N exit. From University Place it is a fairly clean fifteen minutes outside of rush hour, and you are heading against the evening flow for most of it. Parking is directly outside the door.
