Private Golf Lessons with PGA-Certified Pros in Springville, Utah
Our golf training programs are built around two core principles: expert instruction and cutting-edge technology. Every lesson at Pure Golf takes place in a private TrackMan simulator bay, giving you and your instructor access to detailed swing data — club speed, ball flight, launch angle, spin rate, and more. This data-driven approach means you leave every session with a clear understanding of what changed and why.
Pure Golf offers both adult golf lessons and youth golf classes. Adult lessons are 90 minutes and priced at $100, giving your instructor ample time to diagnose, coach, and drill. Youth lessons run 60 minutes at $70, with age-appropriate instruction that keeps young golfers engaged and improving. Both Steve and Dane are First Tee certified, meaning your kids learn not just golf technique but sportsmanship, respect, and life skills.

Meet Your Instructors

Steve Nelson
Inventor of the Automatic Swing Trainer
Steve is the senior member of the Pure Golf team and keeps us all in line. He grew up in California where he honed his love of golf, eventually leading him to play professionally for almost 20 years. Since retiring Steve has continued to share his love of golf coaching in high school and is the inventor of the Automatic Swing Trainer (AST). When he’s not teaching private lessons at Pure Golf you’ll most likely find him playing at Hobble Creek.
Foursome role: Steve is Mr Consistency so he hits first. We can always count on him to put one safely into play (or on the green). His long putter isn’t too bad either.

Dane Moorman
PGA Certified Instructor
Dane is also a Springville native who enjoys sports and being outdoors. He spends a lot of his time camping, hunting and snowmobiling with friends and family. He recently completed training as a PGA Certified Instructor, and along with Steve, is also certified to deliver First Tee instruction for young golfers.
Foursome role: Dane is our designated long driver. If the rest of us can put one in the fairway then we let Dane grip it and rip it!
Your Lesson Experience
What to Expect from Your Golf Lesson
Your first lesson at Pure Golf begins with a conversation. Steve or Dane will ask about your goals, experience level, and what parts of your game you’d like to improve. From there, you’ll step into one of our private TrackMan bays and hit some balls while your instructor observes your natural swing.
Using the TrackMan data as a diagnostic tool, your instructor identifies the root cause of any issues — not just symptoms. You might come in saying “I slice every drive,” but the data often reveals the underlying mechanic causing it. That precision is what makes golf lessons at Pure Golf more effective than range tips or YouTube videos.
Throughout the session, your instructor introduces adjustments one at a time, letting you feel the change and see it reflected in the numbers. By the end, you’ll have specific drills to practice and a clear picture of your progress. Many of our students see measurable improvement within their first few sessions.
About Our Instructors
Steve Nelson brings over 20 years of professional golf experience to every lesson. As the inventor of the Automatic Swing Trainer (AST), Steve has a unique ability to break down complex swing mechanics into simple, repeatable motions. His patient teaching style makes him a favorite with both adults and juniors.
Dane Moorman is a PGA Certified Instructor and Springville native who connects with students through his approachable, encouraging coaching style. Dane’s PGA certification and First Tee training make him especially effective with youth golfers and beginners looking for golf classes near them.

Golf Lesson FAQ
Common Questions About Golf Lessons
How much do golf lessons cost?
Adult lessons are 90 minutes and $100. Youth lessons are 60 minutes and $70. Both include the full session in a private TrackMan bay with your instructor — no extra range fees or equipment rental charges.
Do I need to bring my own clubs?
Yes — Pure Golf doesn’t have rental clubs available, so bring your own set or at least the clubs you want to work on. If you’re brand new and don’t own clubs yet, reach out before booking and we can point you in the right direction.
What happens during my first lesson?
Your instructor will start with a short conversation about your goals and experience, then have you hit some shots in one of our private TrackMan bays. The data gives an objective read on your swing right away — no guessing. You’ll leave with specific things to work on and a clear baseline to measure future progress against.
Are lessons worth it if I’m a complete beginner?
Especially then. Learning proper fundamentals from the start is far easier than unlearning bad habits later. A session or two with a PGA-certified instructor early on can save years of frustration — and most of our beginners see real improvement within their first lesson.
Do you offer golf lessons for kids?
Yes. Both Steve and Dane are First Tee certified, so youth lessons go beyond swing mechanics — kids also learn sportsmanship, respect, and the life skills First Tee is known for. Youth sessions run 60 minutes at $70 and are available for all skill levels.
Are indoor golf lessons as effective as outdoor lessons?
In many ways, more so. Our TrackMan bays capture 26 data points on every shot — club speed, launch angle, spin rate, ball flight path — giving your instructor an objective picture that’s impossible to replicate on a driving range. Sessions happen year-round regardless of weather, and the distraction-free environment helps most students focus and progress faster.

“Steve and Dane are great. It’s awesome how they relate to all the kids and their different skill levels and personalities. They always know what to try to get them to accomplish what they’re trying to achieve. They make it fun to learn. The best part is she looks forward to going every week. I always ask her what they worked on so I can use it for my own game.”

“My 14 year old son was struggling to hit his drives straight. We went down to Pure Golf and had a lesson with Steve. In less than an hour he had him hitting straight and was helping him understand the fundamentals behind how to hit a desired shot. I would definitely recommend Pure Golf to anyone looking to improve.”
